Tal Gur: multi media project

MIND CROSSING

music, video, dance

Tal Gur is a musician from Israel looking to explore the relationship between his grandparents right after the second world war up to their immigration to Israel. they lost their children in the war and found a way to rebuild a new life. Tal is looking to break the barriar between the genarations and defuse the auto-programming of inheritence. In addition to composition and video he would like to portrait his grandparents through dance, to enhance the layered characters shown in the letters.

some words of Tal Gur about the projects:

“…The project relates to the letters as a skeleton to the whole piece. The mediums I use are music, dance, video, film... I enjoy the idea of shifting from one another as means to keep the tension high and to challenge the viewer.

There an aspect of seeking for mental movement, as sometimes happen in psychotherapy. We can call it catharsis, but I'm more interested in the process of getting to that, which is one of the main vehicles I use for approaching improvisation in music and in general in life.

The project examines the borders between art and therapy and that influence me to go further with shifting between mediums. Maybe about my path in seeking freedom and try to shift things that sometimes are stuck in family dynamics...."
